Efforts must be made to restore security and the rule of law in order to break the cycle of violence and revenge in the Central African Republic.

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay issued the strongly worded statement on Wednesday.

Speaking to Mamadou Diallo, she also pointed to the deliberate targeting of the Muslim populations in the capital Bangui, by the Anti-Balaka elements or Christian militias.
