FAO experts examine corn, 1964

In this edition of UN Radio Classics from 1965, the International Cooperation Year, actor Alexander Scourby reports on hunger and global action to end it. At the time, roughly two-thirds of the world’s population was undernourished.  As Scourby points out, while in affluent societies "the calorie is a nail for a coffin," most of the world’s people ate meals that were "as nourishing as Charlie Chaplin's old boot.”
