Listen /

18 year old Evelyn, shown here with her family, was displaced by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. She is pregnant with their second child.

Women and girls displaced by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines are being advised on how to protect themselves from gender-based violence.

Tens of thousands of women and girls are currently still not living at home following the typhoon which killed thousands of people and left millions homeless.

Many are living in crowded evacuation centres, where they are more vulnerable to sexual and gender-based violence.

The UN Population Fund (UNFPA) is providing services in the centres.

Cindy Bishop reports.
