Security Council is told about progress in elimination of Syria's chemical weapons

The Security Council has been told of the progress that has been made in the elimination of Syria's chemical weapons.

The Council considered the report of the Secretary-General on the joint mission of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and the United Nations which is overseeing this process.

Sigrid Kaag, Special Coordinator of the OPCW-UN Joint Mission to eliminate the chemical weapons programme of the Syrian Arab Republic briefed the Security Council for the first time on Tuesday.
