• Up to 3,000 Eritreans are leaving their country to escape human rights violations, according to a UN human rights expert. She says the fear of the indefinite nature of the national service is forcing the Eritreans to leave. The expert is calling on the Eritrean government to stop human rights abuses in the country.

France pushes for a Security Council resolution to end crisis in Central African Republic

• As the crisis continues to worsen in the Central African Republic, France is urging the Security Council to act urgently to avert a catastrophe. The latest violence in the country is between self-defence units and former Séléka rebel forces. France is pushing for the adoption of a resolution on the crisis.

African youth call for action on African Peer Review Mechanism

• An African youth activist is urging African leaders to take action to implement the commitments under the African Peer Review Mechanism. The APRM was established in 2003 to promote good governance. The youth activist says African leaders need to listen to the concerns of young people.
