The humanitarian community in Syria has been able to expand its efforts and deliver aid to areas that were previously inaccessible.

A large number of civilians are trapped in cities and towns, cut off from access to basic services because of the fighting, according to the World Food Programme (WFP).

The agency has just finalized its food distribution for the month of October, reaching close to 3.3 million Syrians with food assistance–a record for WFP since it launched its operations in 2011.
