Chemical weapons inspectors conclude verification at 11 sites in SyriaListen /
International inspectors tasked with monitoring, verifying and reporting on the destruction of chemical weapons in Syria have conducted verification activities at 11 sites in the country.
That information comes from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), which on Wednesday reported that activities also included critical equipment destruction at six sites and the destruction of some unloaded chemical weapons munitions.
The work is in compliance with a Security Council resolution passed last month demanding the destruction of Syria’s chemical weapons stockpiles and production facilities.
The inspectors are supported by a team from the United Nations.
The OPCW says cooperation with the UN in support of the mission in Syria has been excellent, and the morale of the Joint Mission teams remains high.
