UN, US and Russia push for diplomatic solution to Syrian crisisListen / Top diplomats from the United States, Russia and the United Nations on Friday held discussions in Geneva to find a solution to the ongoing crisis in Syria.
The latest meeting has been prompted by the alleged chemical weapons attack on civilians in a suburb of the Syrian capital, Damascus, on 21 August.
More than 1, 400 people, including over 400 children, are reported to have been killed in that attack.
Syrian authorities have written to United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon informing him that the country has acceded to the convention that bans the use, production and stockpiling of chemical weapons.
