But an economist from Harvard University says these countries have seen a surprising persistence of informal sector jobs which offer low pay and scant worker protection. According to Richard Freeman, informal sector workers make up around 60 per cent of the global work force. He explained to the IMF's David Schulman who these informal sector workers are and how to better protect them.
