The ongoing fighting in Syria has forced more than two million people to seek refuge in neighbouring countries.

UN Emergency Relief coordinator Valerie Amos says this exodus is creating a humanitarian crisis the extent of which the world has rarely seen.

This feature tells the story of a new mother who is concerned about the health of her newborn baby—and her family's fate—as she attempts to build a new life at a refugee camp in Erbil in Northern Iraq.
