IAEA supports the fight against cancer in Africa

Listen /

Cancer cases are increasing in Africa, but the continent doesn't have enough trained technicians and healthcare professionals who can help to prevent, detect and treat cancer.

The Virtual University of Cancer Control and Regional Training Network or VUCCnet is an e-learning and traditional teaching approach to improve the capacity of African countries to tackle cancer.

The project, developed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and its partners has been supported by funding from the United States of America Government and the Roche African Research Foundation.

Steve Thachet discussed VUCCnet with Dr Barry Kistnasamy, the Executive Director of the National Cancer Registry of South Africa at the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna.
