Young people take center stage ahead of International Youth DayListen /
Some 700 young people in five remote locations will participate in a global interactive dialogue on youth on Monday, 5 August, ahead of International Youth Day, 12 August.
Ahmad Alhendawi will be hosting "A Global Interactive Dialogue on UN Youth Initiatives" connecting from the UN in New York via video link with participants from Belgium, Brazil, India, Lebanon and Nigeria.
Mr. Alhendawi is the Secretary-General's Envoy on Youth.
"Our planet has never been as youthful as it is today. We are talking about 1.8 billion persons around the world are young people. So they have a share in the development that they want. They are not tools – they are also goals for development. It's only by partnering with them that we will be able to reach the world we want."
The theme of International Youth Day 2013 is Youth Migration:Moving Development Forward, chosen to shed light on the struggles and experiences of youthful migrants.
