A United Nations independent human rights expert has urged Myanmar to do more to improve the human rights situation in the country.

Tomás Ojea Quintana, the UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Myanmar, says the Asian country is making positive changes to its human rights situation.

However, he adds, Myanmar is still facing critical challenges with the lack of genuine reconciliation among the various ethnic groups and the spread of incitement to hatred against religious minority groups.

UN Radio's Patrick Maigua spoke with Mr. Quintana at the conclusion of his 8th mission to Myanmar.
