UN chief expects report on Syria chemical weapons probe on SaturdayListen /
United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon says he expects to receive on Saturday a report on the activities of the UN experts investigating the alleged use of chemical weapons in Syria.
Speaking to reporters in Vienna, Austria on Thursday, the Secretary-General Ban reiterated his position that "the use of chemical weapons by anyone, for any reason, under any circumstances" is a crime against humanity.
Mr. Ban said the team of chemical weapons experts are continuing their work in Syria where they have been collecting samples and interviewing people regarding the reported chemical weapons attack last week.
"They will continue their investigation activities until tomorrow, Friday, and will come out of Syria by Saturday morning and will report to me as soon as they come out of Syria and that is why I have cut short my visit to Austria." (22")
Secretary-General Ban said the UN will share the information and the analysis of samples and evidence with Members of the Security Council and UN members in general.
