Secretary-General stresses role of youth in creating a sustainable future for allListen /
The United Nations is committed to ensuring that young people's voices are reflected in discussions on shaping the future.
That's what UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon told hundreds of youth participating in a global interactive dialogue taking place on Monday in the General Assembly Hall.
He cited a global survey which shows young people's concerns include better job opportunities, a good education, and increased efforts to tackle climate change.
"I am fully committed to working with youth and exploring how you can contribute more to create a sustainable, equitable future of opportunity and dignity of all. The United Nations is committed to making your voices heard and your voices be reflected in shaping the future, better for all."
Mr. Ban pointed out that half the world's population is under 25 years old, making this generation of young people the largest in history.
