Sixty-eight years ago nuclear bombs fell on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, causing untold death and destruction. This week's anniversary is a powerful reminder of the horrors of nuclear weapons.

American airmen dropped the bomb they called "Little Boy" on the city of Hiroshima on 6 August 1945, followed by one code named "Fat Man" over Nagasaki on 9 August.

Gerry Adams reports.
