Men and boys are also victims of sexual violence in conflictListen /
Sexual violence in conflict against women and girls has been an on-going concern of the United Nations.
Under the auspices of the United Nations in April of this year, the "Group of 8", a governmental forum for eight of the world's largest economies, made an historic promise to work together to end war-zone rape and sexual violence.
What is less well-known is the phenomenon of men and boys being sexually assaulted during conflict.
UN Radio's Dianne Penn spoke to Laura Davies of the UN Office of the Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict to shed further light on this.
