Cruise ship entertainers are seafarers too: ILO treaty

Everyone working aboard a cruise ship, from machine operators to entertainers to hotel staff, is considered a "seafarer" just like the crew of a merchant ship.

And as such, their rights are protected under the International Labour Organization's Maritime Labour Convention, 2006, that comes into effect as international law on the 20 August.

Patrick Moser reports from the ILO in Geneva.
