Secretary-General calls for "inclusion and reconciliation" in EgyptListen / It is imperative that all Egyptians work together towards a peaceful return to constitutional order and democratic governance, the UN Secretary-General told journalists in France on Monday.
During a press conference in Paris, Ban Ki-moon reiterated the importance of restraint in Egypt at what he called "a critical juncture" for the country.
"It is important that the Egyptians authorities should include all the parties in managing the current difficult situation. They should include all the parties, without excluding. Also, I am very much troubled that there was a report that they have arrested more than 200 [supporters] of the Muslim Brotherhood. This is not a time for revenge and retribution. This is a time for inclusion and reconciliation."
Mr. Ban said the UN will continue to work with the Egyptian people.
