Mission investigating alleged chemical weapons use to travel to SyriaListen /
The UN mission that will investigate the alleged use of chemical weapons in Syria will soon travel to that country, according to the Spokesperson of the UN Secretary-General.
An update from the Spokesperson on Wednesday notes that the UN High Representative for Disarmament Affairs, Angela Kane,,briefed the Secretary-General on the outcome of discussions held in Syria last week.
On the basis of further understanding reached with the Government of Syria, the Mission, which also includes Professor Åke Sellström, will travel to Syria as soon as possible to investigate at the same time three of the reported incidents, including Khan al-Asal.
According to the Spokesperson, the Secretary-General remains mindful of other reported incidents and the Mission will also continue to seek clarification from the Member States concerned.
