UN ready to assist India following deadly flooding in northern stateListen /
The United Nations stands ready to assist India with emergency recovery and rebuilding efforts in the wake of deadly torrential floods in the north of the country.
That message comes from UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in a statement released on Monday by his spokesperson.
Mr. Ban says he is saddened by the loss of life and the damage to homes and infrastructure caused by flooding over the last week in the northern state of Uttarakhand.
News reports say as many as 1,000 people are feared dead.
