Every Woman, Every Child

Each year, one million babies die the day they are born, according to the State of the World's Mothers report launched this week by Save the Children. Through an initiative known as 'Every Woman, Every Child,' The UN and its partners are working to save the lives of 16 million mothers and babies worldwide.

One of China's leading stars is calling for citizens and the business community in Asia to help prevent the illegal killing of Africa's elephants by simply saying no to ivory products. Actress and singer Li Bingbing made the appeal in Kenya during her first mission as a Goodwill Ambassador with the UN Environment Programme (UNEP).
