Security Council debates combating terrorism in Africa

Terrorism is a threat to Africa’s peace, security and development, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon told a meeting of the Security Council on Monday.

The “open debate on combating terrorism in Africa in the context of peacekeeping and international security” was initiated by the West African nation of Togo, which holds the rotating presidency of the Security Council for the month of May.
