Lenny Kravitz makes a PSA for UNICEFListen /
A Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter, record producer and actor is urging people to join UNICEF to bring about an end to preventable child deaths.
Lenny Kravitz has teamed up with UNICEF, the UN Children's Fund, to produce a public service announcement to reach the goal of 100 percent child immunization.
He says in his PSA that despite the fact that immunization is one of the most successful and cost-effective public health interventions, nearly 20 per cent of the world's children are still not immunized.
Take a minute to think of all the opportunities you've had in life.
Everything you've had as a child.
Think of everything you want for your children.
Then, think of the millions of children who are born into desperate conditions.
Children who aren't given the chance to lead a healthy life because they haven't been vaccinated.
Simple vaccines that we take for granted could save them from deadly diseases.
Four out of every five children are immunized.
But one of five is still left behind.
This fifth child is the most vulnerable, and the least likely to survive and reach their full potential…the one that needs us the most.
Kravitz says, "Failing to reach every last child is unacceptable, especially when the cost of a vaccine is so little."
