The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict (SRSG) this week made her first official visit to Somalia. Zainab Hawa Bangura met with UN officials, civil society partners and a range of stakeholders in the capital, Mogadishu, and also visited a camp for internally displaced people.

Eugenie Mukeshimana gave birth to her first child, a daughter, in the middle of the 1994 Rwanda genocide. Now living in the United States, Mukeshimana is founder of an organization which helps genocide survivors rebuild their lives. She talks about why she started the organization and shares her dreams of providing a home to those who have lost so much.
UN-backed initiative promotes girls education
The UN Girls' Education Initiative (UNGEI) seeks to close the gender gap in education as part of the global effort to give all children equal access to free, quality primary schooling by 2015. Nora Fyles, head of the UNGEI Secretariat, tells UN Radio's Gerry Adams what is working so far and what challenges persist.
