Security Council pays tribute to late UK Prime Minister Margaret ThatcherListen /
The UN Security Council on Wednesday began its meeting by paying a moment of silence to the late Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Margaret Thatcher.
Baroness Thatcher, who was the first female Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, passed away last week after suffering a stroke.
The Foreign Minister of Rwanda, Louise Mushikiwabo, the President of the Security Council in April, expressed the Council's profound grief and sorrow at the passing of Baroness Thatcher.
"The members of the Council convey their deepest sympathy to the family of Baroness Thatcher and to the government and people of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. I now invite the members of the Council to rise and observe a moment of silent in tribute to Baroness Thatcher." (21")
Margaret Thatcher, who was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1990, was buried on Wednesday.
