Gaza refugee families get financial support from UNRWA

Listen /

A building in Rafah near the border crossings to Egypt and Israel shows the scars that recurrent Israeli military operations have left on Gazan infrastructure.

A generous donation of $ 15.6 million by the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) will enable UNRWA, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, to provide urgently needed cash subsidies directly to 7,000 affected refugee families.

The money will support the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the war-damaged shelters of these refugee families.

UNRWA's Media Adviser Adnan Abu-Hasna tells Beng Poblete-Enriquez that the refugee families are very happy as this money will enable them to repair and rebuild their shelters very soon.
