UNRWA says "suffering will skyrocket" if Syria crisis is not resolved

Listen /

Filippo Grandi, Commissioner General of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA)

The Commissioner General of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) is concerned about Palestinians trapped in the ongoing conflict in Syria.

Filippo Grandi says a resolution to end the conflict in Syria must be found otherwise "the suffering will skyrocket and with it the enormous needs of these populations in distress."

In an interview with the UN News Centre's Andrew Giacalone, Mr. Grandi explains first the importance of donors providing support to the neighbouring countries who are "struggling under the burden of this hospitality that they have to give to Syrian and Palestinians coming across”.
