Today is World Happiness Day.

A UN General Assembly resolution "Happiness: towards a holistic approach to development" was unanimously adopted last year. Member States recognized the pursuit of happiness as a universal aspiration embodying the spirit of the Millennium Development Goals.

Leo Bormans, the editor of "The World Book of Happiness" found out during his research that there were professors actually studying happiness. He says, "One of the professors managed to summarize everything he knows about happiness in two words".

Petra Hongell from the United Nations Regional Information Centre for Western Europe (UNRIC) sat down with Leo Bormans and asked him first what motivated him to write this book on happiness.
