Migrants in Greece helped by IOMListen /
As Greece struggles with its own economic woes, the International Organization for Migration, the IOM, has come up with a practical solution for migrants caught in the middle of the economic downturn.
IOM's Jumbe Omari Jumbe explains.
“That is to offer assistance, voluntary return assistance, to those who wish to return home. We don't know exactly how many migrants are there in Greece, because many of them are irregular migrants.”
Mr. Jumbe says more than 1,000 third-country migrants have registered for the programme. So far, IOM has helped more than 850 to return home.
