Hubs are created to increase access to justice in Liberia
Listen /• The first justice and security hub has been inaugurated in Liberia. It is one of five hubs the government plans to establish in various parts of the country to enable people in remote areas to have access to justice as Liberia rebuilds after the civil war that led to complete breakdown of law and order. The project is supported by the UN Peacebuilding Office with over $13 million.
Fire Department resumes operations in Somali capital
• The fire department in the Somali capital of Mogadishu is resuming operations for the first time since 1991. When the extremists controlled the city, they neglected basic services such as fire-fighting, healthcare and sanitation. The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) is helping in the training of fire-fighters in the Horn of Africa country.
Network of community radios is registered in Tanzania
• The network of about 25 community radios in Tanzania has been registered. The radios operate in the most rural settings of Tanzania. The Community Media Network in Tanzania-COMNETA, which is helping to set up community radios in the country, says they are helping to improve people's lives in villages.
