UNHCR urges Kenya to continue upholding refugee rightsListen /
The UN refugee agency (UNHCR) has condemned recent security incidents in Kenya which have killed scores of citizens and refugees.
UNHCR says recent public statements have linked the presence of refugees to these attacks and it cautions against stigmatization of refugees and asylum-seekers.
Kenya is hosting more than 600,000 refugees, the majority of whom are from Somalia, and the government has ordered thousands of refugees living in urban areas to return to established refugee camps.
UN Radio's Patrick Maigua in Geneva asked UNHCR spokesperson Andrej Mahecic what this decision means.
