Migrants in Yemen

Early this week more than 200 Ethiopian migrants were returned to their country from Yemen on a flight chartered by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

They are part of hundreds of Ethiopian migrants who are stranded in and around Yemen's north-western town of Haradh after their attempt to enter Saudi Arabia in search of work failed.

IOM says the flight, which was funded by a donation of $2.1 million from the Netherlands, brings the number of Ethiopian migrants it has helped to leave Yemen to more than 9,500.

The agency's spokesperson in Geneva, Jean-Philippe Chauzy discussed the plight of the Ethiopian migrants in Yemen with UN Radio's Alice Kariuki.
