Ban expresses concern over escalations of violence in SyriaListen /
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has expressed alarm over the continued dramatic escalation of violence in Syria over the past several days.
According to a statement attributable to the Secretary-General's Spokesperson's office, there have been reports of a mass killing of civilians in the village of Aqrab near Hama, as well as alleged firing of long-range missiles in some areas of the country.
There are also reports of aerial bombing, violence and casualties among the Palestinian refugee population in a refugee camp near Damascus.
The Secretary-General is concerned for the civilians who face grave danger in areas under fire.
He firmly condemns this escalation of armed violence, in particular the shelling of population centers and attacks against civilians, and calls on all sides to cease all forms of violence.
