UNRWA chief praises staffListen /
The top official of the UN agency assisting Palestinian refugees has praised the staff for their dedication to their work despite the violence in Gaza.
UNRWA Commissioner-General Filippo Grandi visited Gaza to see firsthand the destruction taking place.
He also praised those who repaired damage to a food distribution centre hit by airstrikes, enabling it to continue supplying food to thousands of refugees.
“UNRWA has continued the operation throughout this crisis just like it has continued operation for the past 64 years. We cannot unfortunately solve the crisis ourselves. But we can certainly continue to carry out our work with the refugee population in Gaza.”
Mr. Grandi emphasized that the immediate issue was to achieve a ceasefire.
