N-Peace Award recognizes efforts of women in conflict

Farkhunda Zahra Naderi, a parliamentarian from Afghanistan, has been an advocate for educating and empowering women in her country. This year she was among the winners of the N-Peace Award which recognize women leaders and peace-builders across the Asia-Pacific region. Gerry Adams recently spoke to Ms. Naderi to learn more about the situation of women in Afghanistan.

Public relations executive and author Terrie Williams has represented world class entertainers such as Hollywood funny man Eddie Murphy, jazz great the late Miles Davis, and soul music legend Anita Baker.  But nearly a decade ago, she was personally and professionally affected by crippling depression which had its roots in her childhood.  Williams came through the experience to become a mental health advocate in her country, the United States. Terrie Williams shared her story at the UN Church Centre in connection with World Mental Health Day, observed on 10 October.
