An exhibition on how developing countries are sharing solutions to address the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) is taking place this week in Vienna.

Among the exhibitors at the fifth Global South-South Development Expo is the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) which promotes the use of nuclear science and technology in solving development challenges.

The agency says nuclear techniques can help farmers produce more food or protect their animals and crops against diseases and pests. They can also be applied in the health field to fight cancer and malnutrition.

Kwaku Aning is IAEA Deputy Director and head of its Department of Technical Cooperation. He tells Louise Potterton that facilitating development has always been part of the agency's mandate.
