For the past 25 years, American soprano Barbara Hendricks has been a tireless advocate on behalf of the UN refugee agency (UNHCR).
Hendricks says her childhood in the racially segregated south of the United States ignited her passion to fight for what she feels is right.
UNFPA extols the benefits of family planning
The UN Population Fund (UNFPA) says millions of women around the world cannot choose when and how many children they will have because they lack access to family planning services. Gerry Adams asked UNFPA maternal health expert Dr. Yves Bergevin about the benefits of family planning for women. He says among the advantages is a reduced risk of maternal mortality.
Sanna's flight: a refugee tale
