UN forges ahead with development work on the ground
Listen /One of the United Nations' main areas of work is to promote development and well being of people on the ground.
In fact, one of the main bodies of the United Nations is the Economic and Social Council, (ECOSOC) which deals with the issues identified in its name.
Every four years, the United Nations Secretary-General issues a report on what United Nations agencies are doing on the ground to help developing countries.
It's called a "Quadrennial Comprehensive Policy Review of operational activities for development, or QCPR which the UN General Assembly discussed on Monday.
To find out more about the UN operational activities, UN Radio's Derrick Mbatha sat down with Navid Hanif, a Director from the Office for ECOSOC Support and Coordination.
