Listen /UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has expressed disappointment at the failure of the Syria ceasefire. Patrick Maigua Reports.
Speaking in South Korea where he received the Seoul Peace Prize on Monday, the Secretary-General said he was deeply disappointed that the parties failed to respect the call to suspend fighting, stressing that the crisis cannot be solved with more weapons and bloodshed.
Mr Ban said the international community must do more to respond to the violence in Syria.
He again called for the parties to immediately stop the fighting. The Secretary-General repeated his call for the Security Council, the regional countries and all parties to support Joint Special Representative Lakhdar Brahimi's mission to help move forward on a political track.
Mr Ban said he remains committed to doing all he can to make this happen, but warned that as long as the international community remains at odds, the needs, attacks and suffering will only grow.
