Amid widespread poverty, farmers in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia are struggling to protect the land on which they depend for their livelihoods.
Overgrazing by cattle has increased the risk of landslides, but a UN-backed project to revive beekeeping is helping villagers to preserve the environment while earning an income.
