Kenya – Greening the Mountain

After decades of excessive logging and reduced water flow, Mount Kenya is becoming green again.
Thanks to a government pilot project financed by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), primary school children have planted more than 4,000 trees.
Their efforts are part of a larger greening programme that has rehabilitated 2,600 hectares of forest and increased the water flow from Mount Kenya.
James Heer of IFAD reports.
