World leaders grapple with threat of nuclear terrorism

The world was shocked when terrorists used passenger planes to attack buildings in New York City on September 11, 2001 killing nearly 3,000 people.
No one one wants to imagine what would happen if such terrorists could acquire nuclear material or other weapons of mass destruction.
It's against that background that the issue of nuclear terrorism was discussed by world leaders attending this year's session of the UN General Assembly on Friday.
