Syrian crisis now "just a statistic for many" says Turkish Foreign Minister

The international community has done "literally nothing" to stop the bloodshed in Syria, Turkey's Foreign Affairs Minister has charged.

In his address to the General Assembly on Friday, Ahmet Davutoğlu reminded world leaders that so far, 30,000 people have been killed in Syria, while 300,000 people have fled to neighbouring countries like Turkey.

"Unfortunately, this humanitarian tragedy has become just a statistic for many. And what has the international community done to stop this carnage? Literally nothing. We are yet to see a single effective action to save innocent lives."  (Duration: 16″)

The Foreign Minister said the responsibility to protect the Syrian people is a fundamental duty of the international community .
