Study analyzes health of migrants from East to Southern Africa
Thousands of people migrate every year from East Africa, the Horn of Africa and the Great Lakes region to Southern Africa in search of a better life.
The International Organization for Migration, (IOM) says these people face hardships on the way.
According to the IOM, many of the migrants, who use smugglers to reach their destination, go to South Africa.
The agency has launched a study on the health vulnerability of these migrants who also encounter difficulties in accessing health care once they reach their destination.
IOM spokesman Jumbe Omari Jumbe tells Derrick Mbatha that the exact numbers of the people who illegally migrate to Southern Africa is not yet known.
