Student from India writes imagined speech for UN opening debate
Listen /Earlier this month, students from around the world were invited to imagine a speech that would be made by Mr. Ban Ki-moon at the opening of the United Nations General Assembly debate.
The debate, which opened Tuesday, is an opportunity for world leaders to tackle global problems together.
Vatsal Vasudev from India is one of the winners of this contest organized by the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) and the Brookings Institute.
Along with two other winners of the contest, Vasudev was flown to New York to meet the Secretary-General in person.
UN Radio's Dianne Penn spoke to Vasudev during his visit and asked what motivated his speech.
