Somali lawmakers urged to elect qualified presidentListen /
A new president of Somalia is expected to be elected by members of the country's newly formed parliament on Monday.
The election will completely end the transitional period and move Somalia towards a phase of political and socio-economic transformation, according to the top United Nations envoy in the country.
Augustine Mahiga has written an open letter to the Somali parliamentarians urging them to ensure that they elect a president who will form a good and credible government.
UN Radio's Joshua Mmali asked Ambassador Mahiga about the letter and what he expects in Somalia.
