People worldwide are being asked to support a "big push" to improve the lives of pregnant women and children through the UN Secretary-General's 'Every Woman, Every Child' initiative.
The Big Push campaign aims to fund innovations in global health to achieve goals such as a reduction in HIV infections and malaria deaths by 2015.
It is organized by The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
Executive Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) Dr. Margaret Chan said despite progress in areas such as the fight against neglected tropical diseases, more must be done.
"In regions like Eastern Asia, Northern Africa, Latin America, Western Asia and South-east Asia, all regions across the board are making good progress. And the challenge for all of is how to maintain this good momentum and the progress so that we can see further improvement.” (Duration: 19″)
