A new international forestry award that honours the memory of a Kenyan environmentalist was given to a dedicated activist from Nepal on Thursday.

Narayan Kaji Shrestha has received the first-ever Wangari Maathai Award, which recognizes efforts to improve and sustain forests.

Mr. Shrestha told Gerry Adams how he first became involved in community forest management.
