Women are crossing frontiers, breaking boundaries and charting a new path.
That's what Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon told the First World Congress of Global Partnership for Young Women in Seoul, Republic of Korea on Monday.
Women are also leading United Nations efforts in peacekeeping, development and human rights, Mr Ban added.
Proof of that, he said, is the number of women who have taken leadership roles at the UN in his administration.
"I named women to head some of our most difficult and dangerous peacekeeping operations. Our missions in Liberia, the Central African Republic and South Sudan – they are some of the seven where women are leading these peacekeeping operations. My senior legal adviser is a woman." (Duration: 33")
